The Best Desserts & Pastries in Orlando (in 2023)

If you’re in Orlando and have a sweet tooth, you’re in luck! The city is full of a plethora of dessert places that will satisfy even the most insatiable sugar cravings. I’m going to give you the scoop on the best desserts in Orlando (from a local’s perspective!).

From ice cream cones to chocolate emporiums and pie bake shops, there is no shortage of mouth-watering treats to indulge in.

The good news is there’s no need to go to theme parks to find the best dessert spots. Some of the best places for delicious desserts are off the beaten path, and it’s my goal to uncover them all, from downtown Orlando to the east end market.

Buttermilk Bakery

This delightful bakery has pastries like no other. They have a rotating menu with a wide selection of sweets, and you can’t go wrong with any pastry or muffin. I love the convenience of ordering online and being able to pick up when I’m craving something sweet.

Light on the Sugar

This one-stop shop offers a wide range of sweet treats, but they specialize in Asian-inspired french pastries.

One menu item that stands out, in particular, is their cream puffs. These cream puffs are made with a light and fluffy choux pastry and are filled with a smooth and creamy filling.

⭐ Must-try: Cream Puffs!

Sugar Dough Bake House

Owned by the same owners as Light on the Sugar but with a focus more on pastries. Their croissants are made with traditional French techniques. In addition to its irresistible desserts, Sugar Dough also offers savory pastries.

This is a cashless bakery, so don’t forget your credit card!

⭐ Must-try: A filled Cruffin (part pastry, part donut with a crispy pastry shell)

Tornetores

Does anyone else plan their dinner based on what dessert they’ll eat after? 🙋‍♀️ Tornetores makes their homemade desserts daily, and they are a must-try.

Their scratch-made Italian food is also delicious, but it’s my favorite place to get pie.

Better than Sex

This dessert-only restaurant is a great place for a romantic date night or special occasions. The menu features creatively named desserts such as “Cookie Nookie Pie” and “The Morning After.”

Valhala Bakery

What sets this bakery apart from others is the fact that their sweets are all entirely vegan! You wouldn’t know it when tasting them, however. It’s the best Orlando desserts location for vegan options with a modern twist.

Mecatos

This yummy cafe is the perfect place for a sugar craving in the Orlando area. Menu items include Columbian based baked goods like Guava Cheesecake and Pan de Bonos (a soft bread made from cheese with filling options). You’ve got to try them–your taste buds will thank you!

They use all-natural ingredients and have an ever-changing menu of creative flavors, such as Lavender Honey and Butterbeer. I even love their vanilla ice cream in a waffle cone!
